India-spec Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Key Features Revealed

After unveiling the colour options and engine specifications, Volkswagen India has now revealed the features list of the upcoming Tiguan R Line. It is slated to launch on April 14, 2025.

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line – Top Features

The Tiguan R Line will come loaded with the following amenities: –

  • LED Plus headlights
  • 19-inch “Coventry” alloy wheels with diamond-turned surfaces
  • ‘R-Line’ inserts on front sport seats with massage function and lumbar support
  • An illuminated ‘R’ logo on the dashboard
  • Dual wireless chargers
  • A 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment
  • A 10.25-inch digital driver’s display
  • 3-zone climate control
  • 30-colour ambient lighting
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Park Assist Plus, along with park distance control – This will enable the SUV to automatically look for suitable parking spaces and park the vehicle by itself.
  • 9 airbags
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • Hill start & descent assist
  • All four dosc brakes
  • Level-2 ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control

VW has also confirmed that the SUV will get an active suspension setup, which is expected to make the ride quality more comfortable.

Powertrain

At the heart of the Tiguan R Line will be the same 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the outgoing model, albiet in a higher state of tune. Having said that, it will make 204 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque, making it 14 PS more powerful than the outgoing model. For transmission duties, the SUV will get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, propelling an all-wheel drive system.

It is claimed to hit the century mark in speedometer from a standstill in just 7.1 seconds before attaining a top speed of 229 kmph.

Bookings, Expected Price and Rivals

Pre-launch bookings for the VW Tiguan R Line are already underway, and we expect it to be priced at around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it as a sportier alternative to the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Jeep Compass.
