Volkswagen India has started accepting pre-launch bookings for the upcoming Tiguan R-Line ahead of its arrival on 14th April 2025. Now, the German carmaker has revealed the powertrain details and colour options for this upcoming performance SUV.
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line Engine
Powering the Tiguan R-Line will be a 2-litre turbocharged TSI engine, paired with a 7-speed direct shift gearbox (dual-clutch automatic transmission) and an all-wheel drive system. However, the engine specifications are still under wraps.
Globally, the Tiguan R-Line also gets multiple other powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid petrol and a 2-litre diesel mill. However, these won’t make it to the Indian market.
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line Colour Options
Volkswagen will offer the Tiguan R-Line in six monotone colours: Persimmon Red Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Cipressiono Green Metallic, and Oyster Silver Metallic.

Expected Features and Safety
Regarding features, expect the Tiguan R-Line to come loaded with amenities like matrix LED headlamps, three-zone climate control, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a fully digital driver’s display, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, heads-up display, electrically adjustable heated & ventilated seats, 30-colours ambient lighting, tyre pressure monitoring system, multiple airbags, drive modes, hill assist, traction control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and an improved ADAS suite.
Expected Price and Rivals
The current version of the VW Tiguan available in India is priced at Rs 38.17 lakh (ex-showroom). So we believe the upcoming Tiguan R Line could carry a price tag of around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Once arrives at our shores, it will face competition from the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross and select variants of Jeep Compass.
