Hyundai India has released the first set of design sketches of the Bayon, revealing the front and interior design of the upcoming SUV. It is slated to be launched around the festive season.

Front Facia
Hyundai says the Bayon uses the brand’s Art of Steel design language with sculpted surfaces and sharp character lines to provide the SUV a sporty appearance. Upfront, it features a split headlamp setup with half-split LED DRLs on the top. The main headlamp unit is positioned lower on the bumper. It also features a rugged-looking skid plate, along with sharp character lines and contours for added sportiness.
Interior
At first glance, the interior layout of the upcoming Hyundai Bayon reminds us of the 4th-gen i20, which was recently unveiled in Brazil. The layered dashboard sports a dual-tone theme, twin connected displays, an open tray on the co-passenger side, and a central dropdown panel housing the air conditioning controls. A wireless charging pad also appears to be positioned at the base of the vertically oriented centre console.
The sketches also confirm that the air con vents will be vertically stacked. It will also get a Hyundai Venue-like 3-spoke steering wheel with a four-dot motif.

Hyundai Bayon Powertrain Options
While Hyundai has yet to reveal any details about Bayon’s engine options, our sources indicate that the upcoming SUV will be equipped with the Creta’s 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
Hyundai will also offer the Bayon with a factory-fitted CNG kit, making it the first mid-size model from the Korean carmaker to offer a CNG powertrain. Similar to the Maruti Victoris, the Bayon is also expected to feature an underbody tank mechanism to free up boot space for your luggage.
Expected Price and Rivals
Hyundai is likely to price the Bayon between Rs 9-14 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it against the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara.
