Honda NX500 Gets E-clutch Technology; Price Starts From Rs 7.44 Lakh

Honda has launched the NX500 adventurer tourer with its proprietary e-clutch technology in India at Rs 7,43,900 (ex-showroom). That said, the NX500 can now handle the gearshifts without the user having to operate the clutch lever. This will work as a boon for Indian buyers, especially in city & rough terrain conditions, reducing fatigue caused by regular manual clutch operation.

Honda E-Clutch Technology Explained

  • Honda e-clutch technology uses precise electronic control to manage clutch operations automatically, while still giving you full control over gear shifts like a regular bike.
  • At the heart of this system is a drive unit and motor control unit (MCU) comprising two small motors and gears, and a three-part clutch lever shaft for moving the clutch lifter piece.
  • The electronic actuators are controlled by the bike’s ECU (Electronic Control Unit/Engine Control Unit) and MCU (Microcontroller Unit), which take data from different sensors on the bike, including speed, gear position, and throttle, and use this information to automatically control the clutch at the right time.

What’s more interesting is that the clutch lever still works, so you can override the system anytime if you want manual control over the clutch operations.
