Honda CR-V Facelift Launched As A Limited Edition

Honda Cars India has launched the facelift version of CR-V in India as a special but limited edition. It is priced at Rs 29.50 lakh (ex-showroom India). The bookings of the SUV are open. Interested customers can book one at their nearest Honda Cars dealership or via Honda-From-Home online booking gateway.

The CR-V Special Edition is Rs 1.23 lakh costlier than the regular CR-V. For this premium, it gets some extra features as well as cosmetic upgrades over the standard model.

Honda CR-V Special Edition – What's New?

As mentioned above, the CR-V special edition is based on the facelifted version of the car which is available for sale in global markets. Compared to the regular model of CR-V, this new limited edition features a new glossy black front grille, which merges into the LED headlamps. It also gets a redesigned front and rear bumper, and new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels to give the SUV a refreshing look. With these revisions, the new CR-V has become +39mm (4631mm) longer than the regular model. However, the wheelbase is still the same (1679mm) as earlier, so don't expect extra room inside the cabin.

The interior of Honda CR-V Special Editions is similar to the regular model. However, it gets some additional features such as front parking sensors, powered tailgate, auto-folding & closing of ORVMs, cornering lamps, and a powered front co-passenger seat. All of these features are missing in the regular trim.

Apart from this, the features of the standard trim have been retained in the Special Edition, which mainly includes automatic LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat, auto-dimming IRVM, digital instrument cluster, remote engine start, and push start/stop button, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, and electronic parking brake, etc.

Honda is also offering a cosmetic kit with the CR-V Special Edition, which further adds esthetic touches. It includes a garnish for the OVRM, a running board, and step illumination.

Honda CR-V Special Edition – Engine, Gearbox & Mileage

The facelifted CR-V continues to be powered by a 2.0-liter petrol engine that churns out 154PS/189Nm. Transmission duties also continue to be handled by a CVT automatic unit only. The CR-V still misses the manual gearbox option. As far as the mileage is concerned, this Honda SUV delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 14.4kmpl.

Colors Options

Honda CR-V Special Edition is offered in a total of five color options: red, brown, white, silver, and grey.

Rivals

In the Indian market, the CR-V competes against the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.

Author's Take

The CR-V Special Edition gets all the whistle & bells that were missing in its standard trim. But the premium of Rs 1.23 lakh, it attracts over the regular model for these features, is slightly steep in our opinion, though it improves the practicality but doesn’t truly increase its core value. If Honda had offered a 4×4 drivetrain with Special Edition, this price would have seemed a bit justified. However, the customers who want to enjoy the exclusivity of its visual appearance can surely buy this SUV.
