New Hyundai i20 Bookings Open Ahead Of Its Launch

After releasing the production video of the new i20, Hyundai has now announced that its official bookings will start from October 28. Interested customers can book the new generation hatch either online or at authorised dealerships for a token amount of Rs 21,000. It will go on sale on 5th November 2020.

The third-generation Hyundai i20 will be available in four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O). Customers can choose their preferred trim from six monotones and two dual-tone color options. These are as follows:

Monotone palettes – 

  1. Polar White

  2. Typhoon Silver

  3. Titan Grey

  4. Fiery Red

  5. Starry Night

  6. Metallic Copper 

Dual-tone palettes – 

  1. Polar White with Black Roof 

  2. Fiery Red with Black Roof

Further, there will be a total of three BS6 engine options; two petrol (1.2L naturally aspirated and 1.0L turbo) and one diesel (1.5L). The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (83PS/113Nm) is likely to get a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox option whereas the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit (120PS/173Nm) will be mated to a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel (100PS/240Nm) can possibly get a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission choices.

Till now, Hyundai hasn't revealed the variant-wise features, colors, and engine availability details. But we know that the new i20 will be a more feature-loaded car compared to the ongoing model. It will get an all-LED lighting system, electric sunroof, sharkfin antenna, a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Hyundai's BlueLink connected car technology, Android Auto & Apple Carplay smartphone connectivity, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, wireless mobile charging, bose premium sound system, auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, air purifier with perfume dispenser and many more.

In terms of safety, it is likely to get multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. 

We expect its pricing to start around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). In the premium hatchback segment, it will take on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata AltrozToyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, and Volkswagen Polo
