Ertiga-based Toyota Rumion MPV Revealed; Launch Soon

Soon after launching the new-gen Vellfire, Toyota has now finally revealed the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based Rumion MPV for the Indian market. It will be positioned below the Innova Crysta in the brand’s India lineup. Its booking amount and prices are yet to be revealed.

Toyota Rumion vs Maruti Ertiga – What’s Different

  • Compared to the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion gets a few styling changes in the form of an Innova Hycross-like grille, redesigned front bumper with triangular fog lamp surrounds, and differently designed diamond-cut alloy wheels.
  • Inside, it gets a dual-tone dashboard, with the upper layer finished in black, complemented by the beige hue for the lower section.

  • Similar to the Ertiga, the Toyota Rumion will also be offered in a sole 7-seater configuration (2+3+2 arrangement).
  • Regarding features, the Rumion gets an identical set of equipment as its donor model. Key highlights include: –

Toyota will offer the Rumion in three variants: S, G and V.

Engine

  • Underneath the hood, the Toyota Rumion houses Maruti’s 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 103PS and 137Nm and can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
  • The company is also offering the MPV with a factory-fitted CNG kit that produces 88PS and 121.5Nm.
  • When it comes to mileage, Toyota claims the petrol version can return a fuel efficiency of 20.51 kmpl, while the CNG can return 26.11 kg/km.

Colour Options

Customers can choose from five body shades: Spunky Blue, Cafe White, Entycing Silver, Rustic Brown and Iconic Grey.

While individuals may have grown weary of Suzuki-Toyota rebadged offerings, Toyota possesses a strong brand reputation in the realm of MPVs, and providing the practicality and affordability akin to the Ertiga could potentially yield advantageous outcomes for the Japanese automaker.
