French automaker Citroen has announced to launch the C3 cross hatch on July 20, whereas its pre-launch bookings will commence from July 1, 2022. Unlike the C5 Aircross, it will be a highly localized, mass-market offering that will also be exported to other countries from our shores.
While we already know that Citroen C3 will be offered with two petrol engine options, their specifications and fuel efficiency (mileage) figures have been revealed now. Here’s a look: –
Engine | Puretech 1.2-litre | Puretech 1.2-litre turbo |
Max Power | 82PS | 110PS |
Peak Torque | TBU (expected 118Nm) | 190Nm |
Transmission | 5-speed manual | 6-speed manual |
Claimed Mileage | 19.8kmpl | 19.4kmpl |
- Unlike our previous speculations, the turbo-petrol unit of the C3 is unlikely to get any automatic transmission option at the time of launch. Earlier, it was expected to come with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). But it seems like the brand has saved it for later.
- The power and mileage figures of its naturally aspirated engine are almost on par with its close rival Tata Punch. However, it has an upper hand for enthusiasts as Punch doesn’t get a turbo-petrol unit.
- The Citroen cross-hatch has around 10PS less powerful engine than the Hyundai i20 turbo, while the Altroz iTurbo is equivalent to the C3.
Citroen C3: Design, Features, and Expected Price
C3’s design has been discussed countless times, but its full feature list is still a secret. However, we know that it will come equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a mobile clamp, Apple Carplay and Android Auto smartphone integration support (probably through wireless means), a manual AC system, steering-mounted controls, a digitized instrumentation console, integrated headrests for the front & rear seats, multiple airbags, and much more. The variant-wise features list will be revealed in near future.
Expect Citroen to price the C3 from around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
