Latest Update: Citroen India has finally announced the prices of the eC3 electric hatch.
A Citroen C3 with a purely electric drive will be launched early next year, confirmed by Carlos Tavares, Stellantis’ global CEO. While the exact date has not been announced, it is likely to take place shortly after Auto Expo 2023 in January.
Called the Citroen e-C3, it is likely to be powered by a 30.2kWh of the battery pack, comprising LFP cells from Chinese firm Svolt. However, the brand is interested in buying a battery from an Indian supplier. However, they haven’t found any suitable source yet. Speaking of the electric powertrain, the electric cross-hatch is likely to get a single electric motor, with a peak output of 86HP and 143Nm, which is higher than its 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit.

The Citroen e-C3 is expected to be produced annually at a volume of 25,000 units, including a substantial number for exports. It also believes that EV penetration in India will gradually increase to 25-30% by 2030.
Revealed by the earlier spy shots, the Citreon e-C3 will look largely the same as its ICE-powered model. However, we expect a few cosmetic changes in the form of an EV-specific grille, new alloy wheels, and tweaked bumpers. Additionally, the e-C3 should also feature all those essential features that are missing in its ICE version, such as day/night IRVM, powered wing mirrors, rear defoggers, and rear washer & wipers.
We expect that the Citroen e-C3 will cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
In other news, Citroen is offering its ICE-powered C3 with attractive discount benefits of up to Rs 30,000 for a limited period. These include exchange bonuses, corporate discounts and a complimentary maintenance package for two years. Click here for more details.
