The recently unveiled Citroen Basalt has finally been launched in India, with price starting from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the brand’s first mass-market SUV coupe and their fifth product in the Indian market. Bookings for the Basalt are now open at Rs 11,001.
The variant-wise complete price list is yet to be revealed. However, the range-topping turbocharged automatic variant was listed at Rs 13.57 lakh on the online configurator.
Citroen Basalt – Design and Dimensions
From the front, the Basalt looks quite familiar to the C3 Aircross, featuring a split LED DRL setup and LED projector headlamp. The SUV also boasts squared-off elements in the grille and a silver finish in the front bumper with red accents, giving it a sporty appeal. It also features round fog lamps, placed lower on the bumper.
Moving to the sides, the SUV coupe has a sloping roofline which merges into the rear. Furthermore, its 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, wraparound LED taillamps and blacked-out finish on the rear bumper complete its overall rugged yet sporty appearance.
When it comes to dimensions, the Citroen Basalt measures 4352mm long, 1593mm tall and 1765mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2651mm and a boot space of 470 litres.
Citroen Basalt – Colour Options
Citroen has offered the Basalt in five monotones and two dual-tone colour options. These include Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, Garnet Red, Polar White with a Platinum Grey roof, and Garnet Red with a Perla Nera Black roof.

Going by its category and pricing structure, the Basalt doesn’t have any direct rivals in the Indian market. However, it can be seen as an affordable alternative to the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and the upcoming Tata Curvv.
