Jeep India has started accepting bookings for its upcoming flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee, for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. Positioned above the Wrangler SUV in the brand’s India lineup, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will be launched on November 11, 2022. It will be locally assembled at the Jeep’s manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon (Pune, Maharashtra), and first deliveries are set to commence by November-end.
According to reports, the production will be limited to around 50 SUVs in November and December 2022, before ramping up once it sees strong demand.
Powering the Jeep Grand Cherokee will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive system & Selec-Terrain system that automatically adapts to various types of off-road surfaces.
The SUV will also benefit from the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) which should include active safety features like blind spot monitoring, forward collision prevention with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, high beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, active lane-management system and intersection assistance.
The other notable features will include driver drowsiness detection, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, an optional 10.25-inch front passenger touchscreen display, a 10-inch heads-up display (HUD), multi-zone climate control, 360-degree camera and much more.
Expect the Jeep to price the Grand Cherokee from around Rs 85 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the likes of the BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Audi Q7.
