Bajaj Auto is gearing up to expand the Chetak lineup by introducing one new Chetak every year. A new variant of the Chetak will be introduced next month, while the next-gen model will be introduced in 2025. Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto, confirmed the news in a recent interview with CNBC-TV18.
In a recent interview, Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto, unveiled plans for a yearly release of a new Chetak model, each built on a fresh platform. He stated, “…there will always be at least one new Chetak every year. For sure next year, we have something distinctly different, it’s not just another refresh on the existing Chetak, but a new platform itself…”

Rajiv revealed that the new variant launching next month will be the most affordable model in Chetak’s lineup. Currently, the Chetak is available in two variants: Urbane and Premium, with prices starting from Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). So expect the upcoming variant to be priced roughly at Rs 1 lakh, placing it against the Ola S1 Air. It could be a detuned version of the Chetak Urbane. For reference, the Chetak Urbane comes equipped with a 2.9kWh battery pack, claiming a certified range of 113 kilometres on a single charge. So, we anticipate a slightly lower ARAI-certified range than the base Chetak.
Bajaj also plans to delve into hydrogen-powered technology with the Chetak.
In other news, Bajaj has recently launched the biggest Pulsar ever, called the “Pulsar NS400.” The manufacturer is also slated to introduce India’s first CNG bike on June 18, 2024, which is reported to offer over 100 kilometres of range. Head here for more details.
