Renault is back in the news once again, but this time for its upcoming concept model, the Bridger, which will be officially unveiled on March 10, during the announcement of the Renault Group’s strategic plan. The concept is likely to preview a production-ready version of the SUV planned for the coming years.
The name “Bridger” is derived from the English word “bridge”, and it symbolises strength and connection. The teasers of the upcoming SUV boasts boxy & upright silhouette, highlighting its rugged, off-road-inspired design. One of the standout design elements is the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a styling cue often associated with lifestyle off-road SUVs. The concept is also expected to feature squared wheel arches, high ground clearance and chunky body cladding, all of which further enhance its rugged appeal.

According to Renault, the upcoming SUV will measure under four meters. The model is expected to target buyers looking for a compact SUV that blends everyday practicality with a lifestyle-oriented design. That said, despite its compact size, the SUV is likely to offer generous space inside the cabin. This indicates that Renault is aiming at markets such as India, where sub-4m SUVs continue to enjoy immense popularity. In fact, its production version will also be designed in India. And being a rugged SUV, it is likely to be positioned against the Maruti Jimny and Mahindra Thar.
While Renault has not revealed technical details yet, the production-spec version is expected to borrow its engine options from the upcoming Duster SUV, which is available with three engine options: 100PS 1-litre turbo-petrol, 163PS 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and 162PS 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol with e-tech strong-hybrid system.
The production version is anticipated to arrive towards the end of 2027, with prices likely to start around Rs 10 lakh.
