Tata Nexon Tops Sales Again In February 2026; Maruti Suzuki Dzire Close Behind

The Indian car market saw intense competition in February 2026, with SUVs continuing to dominate buyer preferences. Leading the pack once again was the Tata Nexon, while popular models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Creta also recorded strong monthly sales.

  • India’s passenger vehicle market witnessed strong demand in February 2026, with the Tata Nexon continuing its dominance as the country’s best-selling car. The popular sub-compact SUV recorded 19,430 units in February, retaining the top spot despite a decline from 23,365 units sold in January 2026.
  • Close on its heels was the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which secured the second position with 19,326 units sold in February. The sedan remains one of the most consistent performers in the market, maintaining strong demand across the fleet as well as private buyers.

  • The Tata Punch continued its impressive run by occupying the third spot with 18,748 units dispatched during the month.
  • Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta retained its popularity in the mid-size SUV segment, registering 17,938 units to take the fourth position.
  • Among Maruti Suzuki models, the Brezza and Ertiga continued to witness steady demand, posting 17,863 units and 17,807 units, respectively.
  • Maruti also had strong representation in the hatchback segment, with the Wagon R and Swift featuring among the top sellers.
  • The Mahindra Scorpio range also maintained a strong presence with 14,665 units sold, while the premium hatchback Maruti Suzuki Baleno completed the top ten list.
  • Overall, SUVs continued to dominate the sales charts, with models like the Nexon, Punch, Creta and Brezza accounting for a major share of the top positions.
