Don’t Book 2026 Renault Duster Before Checking These Details

But ahead of its launch, the French carmaker has unveiled the SUV and commenced its pre-launch bookings. 2026 Renault Duster: Two Turbocharged, One Hybrid Engine

The new Duster will be offered in three engine options, comprising two turbocharged petrol and one naturally aspirated petrol engine with a strong-hybrid system. Here’s a look at their specifications: –

Specification1-litre Turbo Petrol1.3-litre Turbo-petrol 1.8-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol with E-tech strong-hybrid system
No of Cylinders344
Max Power100PS163PS162PS (Combined)
Peak Torque160Nm280Nm172Nm (Combined)
Transmission6-speed manual6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT8-speed DHT
DrivetrainFWDFWDFWD

While the Duster skips a diesel engine option, it gets the 1.8-litre N.A. petrol engine with Renault’s E-tech strong-hybrid system, which comes with two motors – a 49HP electric motor and a 20HP hybrid starter generator, backed by a 1.4kWh battery pack. It claims to handle up to 80% of city runs in electric mode. This means that during slow/city speeds, traffic and short runs, the electric motor does most of the work, while the engine steps in only when needed, such as in situations like hard acceleration, at higher speeds and when the battery is low. This also suggests that this setup will return a high fuel efficiency, although official figures are yet to be revealed.

Speaking of the 1.3-litre TGDi unit, it is the most powerful and torquey turbo-petrol engine in its class. Moreover, local production could help Renault keep pricing quite competitive.

Lastly, the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine is the same 3-cylinder unit that we have seen in the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. However, it has been returned for the Duster to extract more torque.
