Mahindra Thar 5-Door (Armada) Likely To Get Dual-Pane Sunroof

You must have seen multiple spy shots and test mules of the forthcoming 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar, which is likely to be called Thar Armada. It has yet again been spotted ahead of its anticipated debut on August 15, this year. The latest spy shots reveal that the Thar Armada (5-door) could get the dual-pane sunroof.

Advanced Features Onboard

Mahindra Thar 5-door with panoramic sunroof

Until now, the Mahindra Thar was expected to feature a single-pane sunroof. However, the latest development indicates the presence of a dual-pane sunroof. It’s also possible that this feature might be exclusive to higher-spec variants, while the mid-spec trims might be equipped with a single-pane sunroof.

Apart from the sunroof, the Thar 5-door might also get some advanced drive assistance system (ADAS), projector headlights with circular LED DRLs, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from XUV 3XO, dual-zone AC with rear vents, digital cluster, rear centre armrest, 360-degree camera, six airbags, front & rear parking sensors and a reworked grille.

Powertrain On Offer

The Mahindra Thar 5-door is likely to come with the same 2-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engines as its small counterpart, albeit in a higher state of tune. Both engines should get manual and automatic transmission options, with the choice of both RWD and 4WD drivetrains.

Expected Price and Rivals

We believe Mahindra will price the Thar Armada 5-door from roughly Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will be a premium alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
