In addition to the new concepts and unveilings, Tata also showcased the all-new Red Dark Edition Harrier and Safari at the 2023 Auto Expo. On the surface, both the SUVs looked identical to their ongoing Dark Editions, but things are not as simple as we thought. Both have some additional features over their existing models, although it is not yet confirmed which one will be available in production.
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
With the rising popularity of mass-market cars, Tata Motors has now also introduced radar-based ADAS, assisted by the windshield-mounted cameras in Harrier and Safari Red Dark Editions. The suite includes a forward collision warning system, traffic sign recognition, high beam assist, lane departure warning, park assist, blind spot monitoring, auto-emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and more. But unfortunately, it misses out on the adaptive cruise control function.
360-degree camera
Tata Harrier and Safari Red Dark Edition variants get a front camera in the grille and ORVM-mounted side cameras, confirming the presence of a 360-degree surround view system.
Memory Driver Seat
To enhance the overall cabin experience, Tata has also introduced memory functions for the powered driver seat in the Harrier and Safari.
Larger Infotainment System
It looks like Tata Motors has heard the demands of Harrier and Safari owners & fans, and finally introduced a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen on the SUV duo. The display is crisp and offers a better touch response. It also features a new & more user-friendly interface and more advanced connected car technology.
Digital Driver’s Display
Tata Motors has introduced a new digital driver’s display, replacing the older semi-digital instrument cluster. It looks more intuitive and provides cleaner & crisp details.
Ambient Lighting
Unlike others cars in the segment which get multi-colour ambient lighting, Tata Motors has opted for only single-colour options for the Harrier and Safari.
Cosmetic Upgrades
Apart from these added features, the Red Black Editions of both the SUVs also get a host of cosmetical changes, such as red brake callipers, red insert in the grille, bright red upholstery and red accents in the cabin.
Some Exclusive Features For Tata Safari
Being a flagship offering, Tata has also introduced a bunch of extra goodies exclusively for the Safari. These include an electrically adjustable co-passenger seat, powered bose mode, and moonlighting.
These features could also be introduced in the facelift iterations of Harrier and Safari that are expected to be launched in the coming months.
