Skoda Kushaq To No Longer Get Auto-Folding ORVMs

Highlights: โ€“

  • Skoda discontinued the auto-folding ORVMs feature from Kushaq due to the global chips crisis.
  • Customers can retrofit the feature once the situation improves.
  • Currently, the SUV is priced from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).

Owing to the global semiconductor chip shortage, Skoda India will no longer offer the auto-folding function for the outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) with Kushaqโ€™s mid-spec Ambition and range-topping Style trims. And to make up for this, the carmaker is offering a discount of Rs 15,000 to its customers so that they can get this feature retrofitted at a dealer level when the situation improves.

It is worth noting that Skoda is not the only carmaker affected by this crisis. Many brands including Maruti, Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, MG, and Toyota are facing shortage of chips. It also forced manufacturers to shut down their factories and lower production to manage with the available resources, resulting in longer waiting periods on their models. In fact, Mahindra, Hyundai, and Tata had also earlier launched select trims of their models without the music/infotainment system.

Well coming back to the Kushaq again, Skoda currently offers the SUV between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom), pitting it against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Nissan Kicks, Marut S-Cross, and Renault Duster. It comes with two turbocharged petrol engines: a 1.0-liter (115PS/178Nm) and 1.5-litre (150PS/250Nm) unit. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual (standard), a 6-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0-liter, and a 7-speed DSG for the 1.5-litre mill.
