Five New Maruti Suzuki SUVs Are In Works Including Next-Gen Vitara Brezza, Jimny, And Creta-Rival

In a recent dealer conference, Maruti Suzuki has announced that they are working on five new SUVs for the Indian market that will be launched in the next three years. Some of them will be developed jointly with Toyota. Besides, we already know that the automaker is gearing up to update its existing model lineup. With all these developments, MSIL is projecting to get back its all-lost market share, which currently has dropped to 43.50 per cent from over 50 per cent.

These upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUVs will include the 5-door version of Jimny off-roader, new-generation Brezza (codenamed YTA), a new compact crossover (codenamed YTB), a Creta-rivalling SUV (codenamed YFG), and a three-row premium SUV (codenamed Y17). While the brand is yet to share any details about these products, the Y17 is rumoured to be based on Ertiga's platform and could be positioned as the flagship Maruti SUV in the Indian market.

On the other hand, the YFG will be based on Toyota’s DNGA modular platform and is expected to be around 4.3 metres in length. It could be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a powerful hybrid system, making it compliant with the upcoming Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.

With the YTB project, Maruti Suzuki is striving to take on the powerful versions of Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300 more prominently. It could be the production version of the Futuro-e SUV concept shown at the 2020 Auto Expo. That said, it will boast a coupe-like silhouette with an aggressively slanted roofline. This could be Maruti's sportiest SUV till date.

The next on the list is the new-generation Vitara Brezza that will be christened Brezza only. Some recently leaked spy shots have already revealed some crucial design elements and feature details of the upgrade sub-4m SUV that includes resigned front & rear-end, incorporation of the single-pane electric sunroof, completely revamped dashboard design with a floating infotainment system, paddle shifters, and much more. It is likely to employ a higher hybridised version of the 1.5-litre petrol engine under the hood. Expect it to arrive sometime next year.
