While Tata is yet to announce its variant details, a leaked document has recently exposed that the Punch will be offered in four trims – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. Color options on offer will include six monotone shades: White, Grey, Stonehenge, Orange, Blue, and Urban Bronze. All these colors will also be available in a dual-tone scheme. However, the dual-tone paint could be limited to the top-spec trim.

Based on the ALFA architecture as the Tata Altroz, the Punch will be 3840mm long, 1800mm wide, and 1635mm tall. Its ground clearance and wheelbase will stand at 187mm and 2450mm, respectively. Going by these numbers, the smallest Tata SUV is considerably bigger than its core rivals like Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT.

In terms of features, the Punch will largely share its equipment list with Altroz hatchback that mainly includes a 7-inch floating infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, iRA connected car technology, a semi-digital instrument cluster, auto headlamps & wipers, keyless entry with push-button start, flat-bottom steering wheel, cruise control, height-adjustable driver's seat, 90-degree opening door and much more.

Passenger safety should be taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera. It will also get the segment's first driving and terrain response modes.

The Tata Punch will be propelled by the Altroz’s 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine (86PS/113Nm), paired to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission. It could also get a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol and an all-electric powertrain at a later stage.

The Punch is likely to go on sale by end of this month. Expect it to retail from around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
