Second-Gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio Likely To Launch On November 10

The launch of the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio is due for a long time. Earlier it was scheduled to be launched in September 2021, but the global semiconductor shortage had delayed its arrival. Now reports are suggesting that the new-gen model will go on sale in the first week of November, while Autocar India claims that it could launch on November 10. However, the brand is yet to any announcement regarding the same.

For those who aren't aware, the all-new Celerio has already been spotted completely undisguised during its television commercial shoot, and the spy images suggest that it has grown in size compared to the current-gen model. Its boxy silhouette has also been replaced with a curvier profile, lacking any angular elements. It features an oval-shaped grille up front, flanked by new droplet-shaped halogen headlamps. Its redesigned chunkier front-bumper now features blacked-out cladding, giving it a rugged appearance. The other notable elements include a cleaner side profile, blacked-out alloy wheels (probably of 14-inches), sloping roofline, rising window line, sculpted tailgate, and wraparound tail lamps.

Inside, it gets an all-new dashboard layout with expected features such as a touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Suzuki Connect, automatic climate control, an all-four power window, and steering-mounted controls. Passenger's safety should be taken care of by dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, high-speed alert system, seat belt reminder, rear parking sensors, and reversing camera.

Powertrain options for the new Maruri Celerio are likely to be similar to the WagonR. That said, it could come with a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (83PS/113Nm), along with its ongoing 1.0-liter 3-cylinder petrol unit (68PS/91Nm). The smaller capacity engine will continue to come with an optional factory-fitted CNG kit. Both engines will get a 5-speed manual and an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

Expect the upcoming Celerio to be priced between Rs 4.70 lakh to Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will rekindle its battle with the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro, and the Datsun GO
