Nissan Magnite Bags Over 60,000 Bookings Since Launch

Nissan India has revealed that its Magnite sub-4m SUV has amassed over 60,000 bookings since its launch in December 2020. This phenomenal customer response was confirmed by the brand while announcing the monthly sales figures last week.

While the brand is yet to reveal which variant or engine option is in high demand, it was earlier reported that its higher-specs XV and XV Premium variants have approximately 60% contribution in the total bookings, with CVT automatic variants account for 15%.

The magnificent success of the Nissan Magnite must be attributed to its aggressive pricing, which undercuts most of its competitors. For reference, the Magnite comes in two engine options (1.0L NA and turbo petrol), spread across five broad variants: XE, XL, XV, XV Premium, XV Premium (O), which are priced from Rs 5.59 lakh to Rs 9.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Creature comforts of the SUV include LED bi-projector headlamps, L-shaped DRLs, an 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a 7-inch coloured digital instrument display, auto climate control, rear AC vents, cruise control, height-adjustable driver's seat, front & rear central armrest, powered ORVMs, keyless entry with push-button start, and much more. Further, the optional Tech pack adds features such as ambient lighting, a JBL sound system, a wireless phone charger, air purifier and puddle lamps.

Safety is covered by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure-monitoring system, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control, etc.

As mentioned above, the Nissan Magnite is powered by two petrol engines: – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated unit (72PS/96Nm) and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged unit (100PS/up to 160Nm). While the former gets a 5-speed manual gearbox only, the latter comes with either a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission (CVT produces 152Nm of peak torque – 8Nm less than the manual).

The Magnite locks horns with the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300, and Renault Kiger. As per its price range, it could also be considered an alternative to the premium hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno, and Honda Jazz.
