Creta Rivaling MG Astor SUV To Be Unveiled On September 15

MG's upcoming Hyundai Creta rivaling Astor SUV will finally be unveiled on September 18, followed by the launch in the festive season.

For those who aren't aware, the brand has already revealed the key features of the MG Astor. It will come with an industry-first personal AI assistant and first-in-segment autonomous Level-2 ADAS technology that is believed to be especially developed & tested for Indian road conditions. While the former will get a robot head-like device placed on top of the dashboard that can even turn to the person interacting with and displays human-like emotions, the latter will include various active safety features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep & departure assist, forward collision warning, high-beam assist, and blind-spot detection. The brand has also revealed that paralympic athlete and Khel Ratna awardee Dr. Deepa Malik will give her voice for Astor's AI

The MG Astor will be a petrol-only SUV that could be equipped with 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol (120PS/150Nm) and 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol (163PS/230Nm) engines. Transmission options are expected to include manual and CVT automatic options for the 1.5-liter unit, while the turbocharged mill could be mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) only.

The MG Astor is expected to retail from Rs 12 lakh onwards, competing with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushaq, Renault Duster, Maruti S-Cross, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun and 5-seater variants of Mahindra XUV700.
