Hyundai Staria MPV Revealed Through Official Images

Hyundai Motors has finally previewed its first-ever premium MPV, the Staria through official images. Available in multiple seating configurations, the Staria will replace the Starex MPV from Hyundai's line-up. When launched, it will be positioned against the Toyota Hiace in international markets.

Hyundai Staria – Design & Features

The Hyundai Staria looks conventional yet futuristic MPV thanks to its dropping nose, large chrome-finished grille with cube-like LED headlamps, and front LED daytime running strip that runs through the width of the car. Hyundai claims that its design is inspired by a spaceship.

From the side, the new Hyundai MPV looks very clean and has a typical MPV silhouette. It features a large window section that almost covers half of its height. At the back, it gets a large flat tailgate and vertically oriented LED taillamps.

The top-spec trim of the Staria will also feature some distinct design elements from the lower trims that mainly include pixel-style tail lamps, 18-inch alloys, and brass chrome detailing on various parts.

The interior of the Hyundai Staria is designed in such a way that it can prioritise the cabin space. It features a dual-tone multi-layered dashboard, starring Audi-like faux AC vents, a large floating digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system unit that seems inspired by Tesla models. The infotainment integrates into a control panel placed just below it. You can also notice that there is no central console tunnel, which maximizes the front cabin space. If you look carefully, you will also find that it also misses a gear stick. Well, it's because Hyundai has equipped the Staria with an electric drive selector that is mounted on the dashboard.

Hyundai Staria – Variants & Seating Configurations

The Hyundai Staria will be available in two variants: Standard and Premium. It will be offered in 7-, 9- and 11-seater configurations with distinct design cues for the cabin. The 7-seater Premium variant will get lounge seats in the second row with a one-touch relaxation mode that reclines the seat automatically. The nine-seater model will get two-two captain seats in the 2nd and 3rd row, with second-row seats will be getting a 180-degree swivel function to face the passengers in the third row. This will be helpful in conducting a meeting on the move.

The 11-seater Staria will be available in Korea only. This variant uses a 3+3+2+3 layout.

Powertrain

Hyundai is yet to reveal the technical details of the Staria. But if reports are to be believed, it is likely to get a 3.5-liter petrol engine, paired with 8-speed automatic transmission.

Expected launch date

The new Hyundai Staria is set to make its global debut in the first half of 2021. Talking about its Indian launch, there are no official words regarding this. But because Hyundai has already trademarked this nomenclature in India, the MPV could be evaluated for our market.
