2021 Jeep Compass Facelift To Unveil On 7th January, First Teaser Out

The American carmaker Jeep is ready to unveil the facelifted Compass on 7th January 2021. The SUV was first launched in 2017, and now it will receive its first major update. The unofficial bookings of Jeep Compass have already been started for a token amount of Rs 50,000.

2021 Jeep Compass Facelift – Exterior Design

Jeep has also released its first teaser image, which reveals the front design & new green colour of the updated Compass SUV. The Indian-spec Compass looks similar to the model showcased at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2020.

Compared to the existing model, the facelifted Compass SUV gets quite a few changes, especially at front-end. The front facia of the SUV looks completely revived with chrome-studded seven-slat grille, new & sleeker LED projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps, aggressive front bumper with bigger air dam & skid plates.

From the side, the overall silhouette of the Compass facelift remains considerably unchanged. Even the brand hasn't altered the alloy wheel design. At the back, things are largely similar to the current model except for the redesigned taillamps & rear bumper.

The sportier version of Compass, i.e., the Compass Trailhawk will also receive some cosmetic updates with distinguishing changes from the regular facelifted Compass. It mainly includes an off-road centric front bumper with red hooks and a different set of alloy wheels.

2021 Jeep Compass Facelift – Interior

The interior of the Compass SUV has experienced a complete makeover. It features a newly designed dashboard, steering wheel, infotainment system & driver's display, giving the cabin a refreshed and more premium appeal.

The main highlight of the interior includes a new & larger 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display with FCA’s latest UConnect 5 connected car technology.

In terms of new features, the China-spec Compass facelift gets ventilated front seats, connected car technology, apple carplay & android auto smartphone connectivity support, wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vent, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, smart entry with push engine start/stop button, and level-2 autonomous features comprising autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, & forward collision warning, etc. We believe most of these features will be retained in the India-spec Compass as well.

Engine

Mechanically, we don't except any changes in Indian-spec Compass. It is likely to be powered by the same set of engines as the current model, which includes 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (163PS/250Nm) and 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel (170PS/350Nm) engine. The transmission options are also expected to remain unchanged: 6-speed manual transmission as standard along with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox option for petrol, and a ZF-sourced 9-speed torque converter automatic unit for the diesel motor.

In its global version, the American brand has offered a new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Expected Price

Expect the new Jeep Compass to command a premium over the existing model, which retails from Rs 16.49 lakh to Rs 27.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will continue to be positioned against the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Karoq.
