Tata Motors has launched the Altroz CNG with AMT (Automated Manual Transmission), making it the first car in its segment to get an automatic transmission option with CNG. Priced from Rs 8.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the Altroz CNG AMT is available in five variants: Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, and Accomplished S. Here’s a look at their prices: –

- As is clear from the above table, the option of the AMT unit is available up to the Accomplished S trim, positioned just below the top-spec Accomplished Plus S, which is only available with the petrol engine.
- Notably, Tata hasn’t offered AMT with the base-spec Smart CNG variant.

Tata Altroz CNG – Engine Specifications
Powering the Tata Altroz CNG AMT is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG kit. It produces 73.5PS of max power and 103Nm of peak torque in CNG mode, which is lower than the 88PS and 115Nm in petrol mode.
Tata Altroz CNG – Boot Space
Thanks to the dual-cylinder CNG kit, the Altroz CNG gets a usable 210 litres of boot space, which is good enough to accommodate a couple of medium/cabin-sized bags.
Tata Altroz CNG – Competition Check
In the premium hatchback segment, the Altroz takes on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza. Among these, the Hyundai i20 is the only offering that doesn’t get a CNG powertrain option.
