2025 Mahindra Thar (Facelift): What’s New?

The new facelifted Mahindra Thar receives a host of refreshed design elements both inside and outside, along with new comfort & convenience features, redefining the iconic SUV for more urban usage.

To start with, the upgraded Thar now features a new body-coloured grille, complemented by contrasting silver elements on the front & rear bumpers for added appeal. Keen eyes could also notice a rear camera neatly integrated into the spare wheel hub. Beyond these updates, the rest of the exterior design remains unchanged, which feels slightly disappointing as the brand could have at least offered the LED headlamps with integrated DRLs and an electric sunroof. Nevertheless, to inject some freshness into its outer appearance, the SUV gets two new colour options: Tango Red and Battleship Grey, bringing the total palette to six.

Inside, the SUV retains the same dashboard layout as its predecessor, featuring an all-black scheme. However, taking the centre stage is now a new & bigger 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the older 7-inch dashboard integrated setup. It is the same unit offered in the Thar Roxx, which gets both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with connected car tech and adventure stats Gen II.

The new Thar also borrows the split front centre armrest setup, steering wheel, rear AC vents, Type-C USB ports, and A-pillar-mounted grab handles from its elder sibling.

Mahindra has also addressed some ergonomic issues from the previous model by repositioning the power window switches from the lower centre console to the door. The cupholders between the seats have also been redesigned for better usability. It also receives a dead pedal in automatic variants, a rear parking camera and a rear wiper & washer.

The other notable features of the 2025 Mahindra Thar include manual AC, steering-mounted controls, six speakers, cruise control, a built-in roll cage, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
