Maruti Suzuki Ignis Gets Safety Upgrade; Prices Increased

Maruti Suzuki has given its compact hatchback, the Ignis, a couple of important updates. Sold via the Nexa dealerships, the 2023 Maruti Ignis now gets more standard safety features, and its petrol engine has been upgraded to meet the upcoming Real Driving Emission (RDE) regulations. With this, the prices of the Ignis have also been increased by up to Rs 27,000.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis now get Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-Hold Assist as standard fitment across its entire variant lineup. Earlier, these features were limited to select variants of the hatch. The other standard safety features of the Ignis include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, front seatbelt reminder and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

The rest of the features list of the car, such as the LED projector headlamps with DRLs, 15-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, auto AC, keyless entry with push button start, day/night IRVM, and rear parking camera remains unchanged.

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS/113Nm) mated to a 5-speed manual or an optional 5-speed AMT. The carmaker has updated this engine to meet the upcoming RDE norms which will come into effect from April 2023. 

In the Indian market, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis lock horns with the Tata Tiago and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
