Organizers of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) have announced that the 91st edition of this largest automotive event which was planned to be held at Palexpo Exposition Centre in Geneva, Switzerland from February 14 to February 19, 2023, has been canceled due to uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitical scenarios, as well as the threats related to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the GIMS will now take place in Doha, Qatar in November 2023.
Commenting on this, the CEO of Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), said, “Our team has worked very hard to ensure that GIMS 2023 can take place in both Geneva and Doha. In these uncertain times, many brands are not in a position to commit to participating in a show in Europe in the winter. After assessing all the elements, it has become clear to the foundation that the 2023 Salon cannot take place in Geneva as planned. For the brands that wanted to participate in Geneva, the fans, and the loyal visitors to our Geneva Salon, we regret that we had to decide to cancel this 2023 edition.”
While the dates and format of the Geneva International Motor Show Qatar are yet to be announced, it will take place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) as well as several other decentralized venues. Also, the organizers have announced that the Qatar event is scheduled to take place every two years.
