After launching the facelifted Venue last month in India, Hyundai Motors has now brought the new-gen Tucson to our shores, placing it against the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Volkswagen Tiguan. Bookings for the upgraded flagship SUV are expected to begin soon, while its launch will take place on August 4.
2022 Hyundai Tucson – What’s New?
Exterior Design
Based on the Hyundai’s latest parametric design philosophy, the new-generation Tucson looks nothing like its previous model. It features more angular and sportier design elements throughout, but the key highlight is its new parametric jewel grille that seamlessly integrates the LED daytime running lamps. Interestingly, they only emerge when turned on; otherwise, there is no way to distinguish the DRLs from the grille. The other striking design elements of the new Tucson includes angular wheek arches, sharper character line, sloping long roof done in black with chrome trim, and blade-like LED taillamp setup with a full-width spanning LED bar.
Dimensionally, the new generation Hyundai Tucson is 4630mm long, 1865mm wide, 1665mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2755mm, which is 85mm more than its premium iteration. For reference, the dimensions of the outgoing Tucson were 4475mm x 1850mm x 1660mm.
Interior and Features
The interior design for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is very futuristic, featuring Hyundai’s highest level of craftsmanship. The center fascia is vertically oriented and houses the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, the instrumentation pod has an all-digital 10.25-inch display.
The passenger’s comfort and connectivity needs are also taken care of with a host of intuitive and easy-to-use features. These include dual-zone auto climate control with the segment’s first multi-air modes, auto defogger, ventilated & heated front seats, Home-to-Car (H2C) with Alexa and Google voice assistants (supports both Hindi and English), OTA updates for system and map, ambient sound of nature, reclining function for the 2nd-row seat, panoramic sunroof, remote engine start, Bose premium sound system, multiple driving modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, Smart), terrain modes (Snow, Mud, Sand), 64-color ambient lighting, hands-free tailgate, and much more.
Safety at its best
The all-new Hyundai Tucson also benefits from 6 airbags, front & rear parking sensors, ESC, hill hold and descent control, electric parking brakes, 360-degree camera, and the brand’s SmartSense technology with Level-2 ADAS that further comprise active safety features like forward collision warning & avoidance assist, blind-view monitoring along with blid-spot collision warning and collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, lane following assist, high beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert & collision avoidance, etc.
