The 2022 Maruti Baleno facelift will come with updated styling and new features, including the segment’s first Head-Up Display (HUD), which will show essential driving data on a transparent display. It is placed in such a way that the driver does not have to look away from the road.

Besides the HUD, the new Baleno will also get a completely overhauled dashboard design with a larger touchscreen infotainment system (probably of 8″) that the brand said to be jointly developed with Toyota. It will also be equipped with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car tech, up to six airbags, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

On the outside, it will get a newly designed lighting system, a revised grille, and updated bumpers. Maruti is also likely to offer some new paint schemes with the facelifted Baleno.

Beneath the bonnet, the 2022 Maruti Baleno facelift is likely to continue with the ongoing 83PS 1.2-liter and 90PS 1.2-litre Dualjet Dual-VVT (with 12V mild-hybrid) petrol engines. While a 5-speed manual transmission will be standard, the brand could replace its CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) option with a much more affordable AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) unit. It may also get a CNG powertrain in the near future.

Expect the new Baleno to bear a significant premium over the ongoing model, which retails between Rs 6.14 – 9.66 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will emerge as a more competitive offering against the Hyundai i20, VW Polo, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, and Toyota Glanza.
