2022 Mahindra Scorpio N – What’s New?
Exterior and Dimensions
Mahindra has made some substantial changes in terms of design. Built on a new body-on-frame platform (13% lighter than before), everything about the Scorpio N is new. Aye, it retains its iconic boxy DNA, but all the body panels are new and get plenty of soft & clean lines. Upfront, it gets a sleeker-looking slatted grille, flanked by dual-beam LED projector headlamps. The bumper is now more rugged and gets C-shaped LED DRLs. At the rear, it sports new vertically stacked LED tail lamps with dynamic turn indicators.

In terms of dimensions, the Scorpio N is 4,662mm long, making it just 33mm smaller than the XUV700. However, its wheelbase is equivalent to XUV, and around 9mm and 5mm longer than the Tata Safari and Toyota Fortuner, respectively.
Interior and Features
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio N gets a bolder-looking dual-tone black-brown dashboard with abundance of silver accents for premium appeal. The brand claims that it has the highest command seating in its class that allows easy ingress-egress.
In terms of features, the upgraded SUV gets plenty of new features such as 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car tech with Alexa compatibility, what3words navigation, a 12-speaker Sony sound system with roof-mounted speakers, dual-zone climate control, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof, cruise control, driver drowsiness detection, advanced electronic stability control, front & rear camera, and up to six airbags.

Powertrain and Underpinnings
Along with the design and features list, Mahindra has also overhauled the powertrain options for the rugged SUV. That said, the 2022 Scorpio N gets Mahindra’s familiar 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre mHAWK diesel engines, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Here’s a look at its detailed specifications: –

As the above table indicates, Mahindra offers the rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD) standard with the new Scorpio, along with the choice of a part-time 4-wheel-drivetrain (4WD) with the diesel engine. The 4WD trims will also get four traction modes: Tarmac, Snow, Mud, and Desert.
The brand has also equipped the new Scorpio with Penta-link rear suspension with the segment’s first WATT’s Link mechanism that offers more commanding handling, especially at corners. It also gets frequency-dependent damping and MTV-CL technology in the shock absorbers that is claimed to eliminate all the harsh impacts and enhance the body-control and ride comfort.
Color Options
Mahindra has offered the 2022 Scorpio in 7 color options: Dazzling Silver, Deep Forest, Grand Canyon, Everest White, Napoli Black, Red Rage, and Royal Gold.
Test Drives to begin from 5th July
