Tata Motors is all set to unveil the more powerful Tigor EV on August 18. As revealed earlier, the updated electric sedan will get the Nexon EV’s Ziptron powertrain and could be exclusive for private buyers. Recently, the brand has also launched the X-Pres T (facelifted Tigor EV) for commercial buyers.
Similar to Nexon EV, the upgraded Tigor EV is expected to be powered by the 30.2kWh battery pack that is claimed to offer a range of 312 kilometers on a single charge. However, it's electric motor is likely to be detuned to provide around 100PS, compared to the Nexon EV’s 129PS of peak output. Besides, it is likely to get the CCS2 (Combined Charging System 2) as standard, which will enable it to use India’s swiftly expanding EV fast-charging network.
The design of the 2021 Tigor EV will be similar to the X-PresT with a few add-ons such as projector headlamps, LED DRLs on the front bumper, body-colored door handles, alloy wheels and a few blue inserts to differentiate it from the ICE-powered Tigor.
In terms of features, it could get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a semi-digital instrument cluster, flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, auto climate control, keyless entry with push-button start/stop function, regenerative braking, and drive modes. Passenger safety should be taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
The new Tigor EV will be positioned below the Nexon EV in Tata's current product lineup. And thus, it is expected to be priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
