Tata XPRES-T EV Launched Exclusively For Fleet Customers, Price Start From Rs 9.75 Lakh

Shortly after the announcement of the 'XPRES' sub-brand, the homegrown maker has launched the first product under this trademark called "XPRES-T". Priced from Rs 9.75 lakh, it is essentially a facelifted version of the Tigor EV. The XPres-T is offered in two variants: XM+ and XZ+. Let's take a look at the pricing details: –

As the above table indicates, Tata has discounted the base-spec XE variant of Tigor EV. However, the prices of the rest of the variants are similar to the pre-facelift version. It is important to note that all the products under the XPRES brand will only be available for corporate and government fleet customers. The brand has recently delivered 14 XPRES-T EVs to Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) as a part of its contract with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

Tata XPRES-T – Design & Features

The design of the XPRES-T is in line with the ICE-powered Tigor facelift except for some EV-specific elements such as a closed-off grille, blue stripes, and ‘EV’ badging on the front, side, and rear profiles of the car.

Similar to the exterior, the blue stips continue to make their way inside the cabin as well, differentiating it from the conventional fuel model.

As for features, it only gets a basic set of equipment catering to the requirements of fleet operators. The standard features for XPRES-T mainly include a 2-DIN infotainment system from Harman with FM and Bluetooth/Aux/USB connectivity, automatic climate control, all-power windows with one-touch up/down function for the driver-side window, door pockets with bottle holder, adjustable headrests for front seats, two-driving modes (ECO & SPORT), dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, automatic door lock, seat belt reminder, and more. Also on offer are the alloy wheels, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and keyless entry exclusive for the top-spec XZ+ trim.

Tata XPRES-T – Powertrain

Tata has offered the XPRES-T with two battery pack choices: a 16.5kWh and 21.5kWh unit. Both power the same 72V 3-Phase AC Induction Motor (41PS/105Nm) that spins the front wheels to a maximum speed of 80kmph.

Tata XPres-T drive range

The brand claims an ARAI tested range of 213km from the 21.5kWh battery, whereas the smaller capacity battery pack delivers 165km of range on a single charge. The batteries can be recharged from 0 to 80% in up to 110 minutes using a fast charger. However, using a 15 Ampere AC home charger will take around 11.5 hours to fully the vehicle.

Tata XPRES-T: Rivals

The Mahindra E Verito could be seen as a direct rival to the Tata XPRES-T in the Indian market.
