2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Base Variant Spied; Interior Revealed

The base-spec variant of the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been spied ahead of its launch in November 2021, and it seems to get all the essential features that one desires from an entry-level trim of any car.

Starting with the exterior, the lower-spec variant of the new Celerio gets halogen headlamps, body-colored bumpers & ORVMs, and steel wheels without covers. While it misses out on the fog lamps, alloy wheels, rear defogger, and rear wiper & washer, they will be provided on the higher-spec trims of the upgraded hatchback.

Inside, the entry-level Celerio sports an all-black cabin with silver accents here & there that gives it a contrasting appeal. Though it doesn't get any audio player, the central console design seems quite interesting. It will look more engaging on the top-spec variants with a touchscreen infotainment system.

In terms of features, the base-spec Maruti Celerio gets manual air-conditioning, 3-spoke power steering, analogue instrument cluster, and height-adjustable front headrest. Its safety kit will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, seat belt reminder, and rear parking sensors, etc. On the other hand, the higher-spec variants should get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver's seat, fog lamps, rear defogger, steering mounted audio & telephony controls, and much more.

What else do we know about the new Maruti Celerio? Well, it will be based on the same Heartect platform as the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. And so, it will be longer and wider than its existing model. Besides, it is also likely to borrow WagonR's 83PS/113Nm 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine alongside a new 1.0-litre dualjet gasoline mill. Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit for both engines. A factory-fitted CNG kit will also be on the cards.

Prices of the new Celerio are expected to start from around Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it against the likes of Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, and Datsun GO.
