Isuzu Motors is ready to kickstart its BS6 journey with the updated D-Max V-Cross. The Japanese automaker has recently announced that the BS6 compliant versions of these lifestyle pick-up trucks will be launched on 10th May 2021. Besides, the brand has also listed the Toyota Fortuner rival BS6 Isuzu mu-X SUV on its official website.
2021 Isuzu D-Max pickup will be offered in two levels of trims: a new base-spec Hi-Lander and a lifestyle-oriented V-Cross. The V-Cross will further be available in two automatic variants – Z and Z Prestige. While the V-Cross Z variant will get a two-wheel-drivetrain (2WD) as standard, the top-spec Z Prestige will be offered with a four-wheel-drivetrain (4WD).
On the other hand, the new D-Max Hi-Lander trim is expected to replace the outgoing D-Max S-cab variant. However, unlike the S-Cab which was only allowed for commercial use, the new Hi-Lander is expected to be aimed towards personal usage as well.
Revealed by leaked brochure, the top-spec V-Cross variants will continue to get features like Bi-LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, front fog lamps with chrome bezel (only with 4WD trim), roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, passive keyless entry & start system, side steps, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8-speaker sound system (6-speakers with lower-trim), automatic AC, cruise control (only with 4WD trim), 6-way electrically adjustable driver's seat (manual adjustment for lower-trim), rear defogger, rear door child lock, and auto-down power windows. etc. Safety will be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, brake override system (BOS), electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist, hill descent assist, traction control, transfercase protector, rear parking sensors, and reverse camera.
The updated Isuzu V-Cross is likely to be available in a total of seven color choices – Cosmic Black, Splash White, Titanium Silver, Silky White Pearl, Spinal Red, Sapphire Blue, and Galena Gray.
Powering the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will be a Bharat Stage-6 emission norms compliant 1.9-liter 4-cylinder CRDI diesel engine that is good enough in producing 164PS of maximum power and 360Nm of peak torque. The motor is likely to come with a 6-speed automatic transmission only. The top-spec Z Prestige variant will also get a shift-on-the-fly system with a high torque mode.
Expect the new Isuzu D-Max V-Cross's prices to start from around Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
