Hyundai Alcazar is basically a three-row derivative of the Creta compact SUV. However, it gets significant cosmetic changes on the outside to distinguish it from its younger sibling. These changes include a revised grille, redesigned front bumpers, upsized alloy wheels (18-inch compared to the Creta’s 17-inches), a slightly altered roofline, a large rear quarter glass panel, an upright tailgate with new wraparound LED taillamps, an updated rear bumper with faux dual exhaust tips, etc.

Not only physical appearance but the brand has also altered Creta's platform to create more room for the third passenger row. To be precise, the Alcazar has a wheelbase of 2,760mm, which is 150mm more than that of the Creta’s wheelbase. This not only helped the Alcazar to get more cabin space for passengers but also accommodated the segment’s largest boot space of 180-liters. Though it is not so huge to celebrate, it's slightly better than its rivals like Tata Safari (73-litres), MG Hector Plus (155-litres), and Mahindra XUV500 (93-litres).

The carmaker has also made some modifications to the suspension setup of the car to enhance its vehicle stability. It gets a hydraulic rebound stopper in the front strut, which is believed to contribute to better rebound control and comfortable ride quality over uneven roads. The rear suspensions, on the other hand, get a more upright shock absorber which is claimed to improve body control and will give the SUV a more planted feel. Hyundai has also improved the material quality and given the A & C pillars more strength.

As far as the interior and features are concerned, the Hyundai Alcazar wears a dual-tone black-brown shade. While it features a similar dashboard design as the Creta, the main difference between the two SUVs is of seating capacities. Hyundai has offered the Alcazar in both 6-seater (captain seats in the middle row) & 7-seater (bench seat in the middle row) layouts. The 6-seater model will also get a floor-mounted premium console armrest between the two captain seats.

Feature details of the Alcazar are yet to be revealed, it is likely to retain most from the Creta, like a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, BlueLink connected car tech, a Bose sound system, wireless charger, inbuilt air purifier, auto climate control, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat and many more. Besides this, it could also get some additional features over its 5-seater counterpart such as a fully digital instrument cluster, front parking sensors, and 360-degree camera.

Powering the Alcazar will be either a 2.0-liter petrol (152PS/192Nm) and or a 1.5-liter diesel unit (115PS/250Nm). Both engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.

The Hyundai Alcazar SUV is expected to be priced at a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the Creta, which currently retails between Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 17.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
