Tesla has announced that the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) is now available for test drives across its experience centres in India. Alongside this, the company has also rolled out a new suite of AI-powered features, including the Grok AI assistant, enhancing the overall ownership experience.
Performance, Range & Practicality
The new Model Y Premium RWD comes with a 0–100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds and offers a claimed range of up to 500 km (WLTP). It also boasts 2,138 litres of storage space, thanks to flexible seating for five passengers and power-folding rear seats.
In India, the electric SUV is priced at ₹50.89 lakh, with a starting EMI of ₹39,990 and a down payment of ₹6 lakh. Customers who place orders before August 30, 2026, will receive a complimentary Wall Connector for home charging.
AI Features Take Centre Stage
A major highlight is the introduction of Grok, an AI assistant developed by xAI. Integrated into the car, it can be activated via voice command (“Hey Grok”) or through the steering-mounted button.
Grok supports multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, and Kannada. It enables features like:
- Voice-based trip planning with multi-stop navigation
- Hyperlocal search for chargers, cafes, hospitals, and more
- Real-time vehicle alerts with explanations
- Customisable voice interaction for a personalised experience
These features are delivered via Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, meaning no dealership visits are required.
