Tata Price Hike: Harrier, Nexon, Tiago, Tigor Get Dearer By Up To Rs 26,000

Tata Motors has announced a price hike across its entire product lineup by up to Rs 26,000, depending on the model and variant. Rising manufacturing expenses and material costs of steel, precious metals, and semi-conductors are being cited as the core reasons behind this move. While we have already discussed the increased prices of Altroz hatch in our last story, the revised prices of all other Tata cars are as follows: –

The Tiago’s base-spec XE variant gets a maximum price hike of up to Rs 23,500, while for other trims the price increment ranges between Rs 9,500 to Rs 15,500. With this, the Tiago is still more affordable than the Maruti Suzuki Nexa Ignis, which retails between Rs 4.89 lakh to Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The prices of the Tata Tigor sub-4m sedan have gone up by up to Rs 15,000. But still, it is cheaper than the pre-August pricing. For the people not in know, Tata had slashed the prices of the Tigor by up to Rs 36,000 in August 2020.

While the petrol-powered Nexon has received a price hike of up to Rs 15,000, the prices of the diesel variants have registered a jump of around Rs 12,000.

The price hike for Harrier mid-size SUV ranges between Rs 10,500 to Rs 26,000. With this, it now priced from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 20.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), whereas its core rival MG Hector Facelift costs between Rs 12.89 lakh and Rs 18.32 lakh (ex-showroom). To further consolidate its stake in the segment, Tata will also launch a 6-and 7-seater version of the Harrier SUV (all-new Tata Safari) on 26 January 2021.

Note: The price hike will be effective from 21st January 2021. However, Tata has confirmed that those customers who have booked their vehicles before this date can avail of the older pricing.

Besides Tata Motors, several other carmakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Kia Motors, Nissan, etc. have also revised the prices of their offerings.
