Top 10 Selling Cars Of September 2021 – Alto, Seltos, Baleno, Altroz And More

The list of top 10 cars sold in India has seen significant shifts in the month of September as several mass-market automakers registered a decline in their sales last month due to the global semiconductor chip crisis. Usually, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors dominate the top 10 charts. However, this time, the Kia India and Tata Motors also made their way to the top-selling cars list, whereas the all-time best-selling Maruti Suzuki Swift, Dzire, and Vitara Brezza slipped from the list.   • Last month, the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Ertiga dethroned their siblings Wagon-R, Swift, and Baleno to take the top spots in the list. While the Ertiga registered a positive month-on-month growth of 81 percent last month, the sales for Alto went down by around 8 percent. 
  • With 11.2 percent of MoM growth, the Kia Seltos was the third best-selling car in September 2021. It also surpassed India's favourite mid-size SUV, the Hyundai Creta, to take the best-selling SUV tag.
  • Fourth on the list is the Tata Nexon, emerging as the most-selling sub-4m SUV of September 2021. 
  • With sales of 8,193 units, the Hyundai Creta was fifth on the list. 
  • Despite reporting the highest MoM and YoY decline, Maruti Suzuki Baleno emerged as the highest-selling premium hatchback last month. It clocked 8,077 units of sales.
  • Next on the list is Hyundai Venue with sales of 7,924 units.
  • The last three spots in the list were occupied by Maruti Eeco, WagonR, and Tata Altroz, respectively. All these cars registered negative growth in September 2021.
