Toyota Belta (Rebadged Maruti Ciaz) Spied Again; Launch Expected Soon

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz-based Toyota sedan (likely to be called the Toyota Belta) has been spotted once again ahead of its launch in the coming months. It will be the third rebadged model under the Toyota and Suzuki's agreement, followed by the Glanza and Urban Cruiser, which are essentially cross-badged versions of the Maruti Baleno and Vitara Brezza, respectively. Reports are also suggesting that Maruti has started manufacturing this C-segment sedan for Toyota at its Manesar plant.

As apparent from the latest spy image, the front design of the Toyota's version of Ciaz will look exactly similar to its donor vehicle save for the Toyota badging and added chrome on air dam wings. We would have loved to see at least a distinct front bumper on the Belta, in order to differentiate it from the Maruti Ciaz.

While the rest of the design of the car is yet to be revealed, it is likely to be similar to the Ciaz except for a different color scheme inside the cabin. Also, it is safe to assume that the features list of both cars will be identical too that will mainly include LED projector headlamps with DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Suzuki connect tech, auto climate control with rear AC vents, auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, passive keyless entry with push-button start, leather upholstery, analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch colour MID, and much more.

Safety should be taken care of by dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors along with a reverse camera and others.

Toyota Ciaz India launch date

Underneath the hood, the rebadged Toyota sedan will also employ the same 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine (105PS/138Nm) with mild-hybrid tech as the Ciaz, coupled with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There will be no diesel engine on offer.

We expect Toyota to sell the Belta in limited variants and with a better standard warranty package compared to Maruti. It is likely to come with a 3-years/1,00,000km factory warranty and free RSA (roadside assistance) for the same period as against the 2-years/40,000km warranty provided with the Maruti Ciaz. Once launched, it will go up against the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna, and its donor model, Ciaz.
