The third-generation Hyundai i20 is undoubtedly the most anticipated car of the year, which is all set to be launched on 5th November 2020. However, to draw customers' attention before the launch, the Korean maker has now released the production video of the premium hatchback, following after official teaser images. The videos explain the production and testing procedure of the new i20 car. Besides this, it also reveals its various designing bits and features.

2020 Hyundai i20 – Important Bits Of Production

  • Hyundai has revealed the new i20 comprises 66% of high-strength steel, which makes it lighter, stronger, and more reliable than the ongoing model.
  • It has 13% more tensile strength than the previous generation model.
  • The brand is using a digital gauge to check panel tinning distribution and a 3D scanner to check & analyse the strengthening and precision of press panels.

  • Hyundai uses 100% welding automation with the help of 450 self-learning robots that take care of the welding process with a degree of accuracy no human workers could ever approach.

car paint process

  • To give the new i20 a vibrant finish, the brand is using ‘High-Throw’ Power 7th Generation Electro Deposition Paint’ technology which ensures rusting and corrosion protection. With the help of 72 robots, the greatest quality standards and glossy looks are ensured in the painting process.
  • To ensure the dynamic performance and durability, Hyundai has tested the engine and transmission systems for 350 hours and 849 hours respectively, and that too on load conditions. The gearboxes are also been tested without load conditions for 5 lakhs cycles.
  • Hyundai also employs a Cold Test Bed that is an eco-friendly way of testing the engines over 15 parameters, without burning fuel. It is a fully automated system in which 100% of the produced engines are tested before assembling in vehicles.

  • To check the quality standard, each car right from the press shop to complete vehicle assembling is thoroughly inspected by over 500 quality in-charge experts. Further, it also passes quality checks through the HIDIS (Hyundai Integrated Digital Inspection System) which has a 324-point checkpoint.
  • The fully assembled all-new i20 then undergoes a dynamic road test on 18 drive tracks for various road driving conditions as well as weather conditions.
