Ather 450X Gets Cruise Control Via OTA Updates

Ather Energy has rolled out infinite cruise control on the 450X through an over-the-air (OTA) software update. This convenience feature will be available on all Ather 450X electric scooters sold from January 1, 2025 as these units already have the supporting hardware. The update is communicated to riders through an on-screen notification on their scooter dashboard.

Infinite Cruise Control

First introduced on the Rizta and 450 Apex, the Ather’s Infinite Cruise Control is the most intelligently crafted cruise control yet that can be activated from as low as 10 kmph, going up to 90 kmph. Unlike conventional systems that disengage on braking, Ather’s cruise only pauses when brakes are applied and reactivates automatically as soon as the rider accelerates again. In fact, the feature locks the scooter at the throttle-released speed.

The feature also integrates CityCruise, which adapts to changing speeds in traffic; Hill Control, which maintains a steady speed on inclines and descents by compensating for load changes and leveraging regenerative braking through Ather’s Magic Braking Algorithm; and Crawl Control, which enables stable low-speed cruising on rough or uneven roads, supported by Multimode Traction Control for improved grip on wet or slippery surfaces.
