Soon after launching the performance-oriented AMG EQS 53, Mercedes-Benz has now launched the EQS 580 4MATIC electric sedan in India at Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom). Unlike the EQS 53 which is a fully imported car, the EQS 580 will be locally assembled at the brand’s Chakan plant.
Powering the Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4Matic is a 107.8kWh battery pack, linked to a dual-motor setup (one on each axle) generating maximum power of 523PS and a peak torque of 855Nm. This setup allows the electric sedan to do the 0-100kmph sprint in only 4.3 seconds. It offers a claimed range of 676km and has a top speed of 210kmph.
As for charging, the electric sedan supports fast charging of up to 200kW that can energise its battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. However, the 11kW home charger will take around 10 hours for the same.
Design-wise, the EQS 580 features an aerodynamically optimized sleek three-box layout, with key elements including a closed-off grille, a continuous light strip upfront, connected LED tail lamps, and 20-inch alloy wheels designed to enhance aerodynamic efficiency.
Inside, it features an optional 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that essentially comprises three screens, including the instrument cluster, the central infotainment screen, and a front passenger display. Other notable features include gesture control, four-zone climate control, ventilated & heated seats, massage function for front seats, power adjustment for all four seats, a Burmester 3D sound system, Mercedes me connect, a 7-inch rear seat tablet, head-up display, and panoramic sunroof.
Passengers’ safety, on the other hand, is ensured by 9 airbags, auto-dimming IRVM & ORVMs, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, lane departure assist, steering assist, lane keeping assist, parking assist, and much more.
In the Indian market, the Mercedes-EQS 580 sedan goes up against the Audi e-tron GT.
