2022 Facelifted MG ZS EV Launched In India

MG Motor India has finally launched the facelifted ZS EV at a starting price of Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). Continue to be offered in two variants (Excite and Exclusive), the ZS EV has undergone subtle design, features and powertrain changes.

*Currently, the new ZS EV is only available in top-spec Executive variant, while the base-spec Excite trim will got on sale from July this year.

MG ZS EV – Design

MG has slightly refreshed the design of ZS EV. For starters, it has received a new EV-specific body coloured closed-off grille upfront with repositioned charging port (from behind the MG logo to now next to it), flanked by new pair of LED headlamp. Then are the tweaked bumpers at both ends, new 17-inch alloy wheels, and redesigned LED tail lights.

Interior and Features

Changes on the inside are in line with the MG Astor, featuring a leather wrapped dashboard design with a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, redesigned climate control panel, and digital driver’s display. It now also receives rear AC vents, rear centre armrest with cupholders, and an adjustable headrest for middle occupant as well.

The other notable addition includes a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and lane change assist. Besides, features like Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charger, connected car tech, auto AC, 6-airbags, auto headlamps, etc have bee retained from the previous model.

Powertrain

The 2022 MG ZS EV has received a bigger 50.3kWh battery pack, replacing the older 44.5kWh unit. With this, it is now claimed to run 461 kilometers on a single charge, 42 kilometres more than the pre-facelift model. Not only the battery but it also gets more powerful electric motor that now churns out 176PS of max grunt than the previous model’s 143PS figure.
