  • Four new products unveiled, including two EVs.
  • Aerox E is a performance-oriented maxi-style scooter which gets removable batteries.
  • EC 06 uses a fixed battery setup.

Yamaha India has taken a massive leap into the future of mobility by unveiling its first electric two-wheelers – Aerox E and EC 06, marking its entry into India’s EV segment. Alongside, the Japanese bikemaker has also launched the retro-styled XSR 155 and the youth-focused FZ Rave, reinforcing its presence in the premium and commuter motorcycle segments.

Yamaha Aerox E – Performance Maxi Scooter

The Aerox E is a performance-oriented maxi electric scooter, built on Yamaha’s Aerox 155 platform. It is powered by a 9.4 kW electric motor, producing 48Nm of peak torque. The EV takes its charge from dual detachable batteries with a total capacity of 3 kWh, claiming a range of 106 km on a single charge. Riders can choose between three riding modes: Eco, STD and Power, with an additional “Boost” mode for instant acceleration.

Regarding features, the scooter gets LED lighting all around, reverse assist, a TFT display with navigation, Y-connect smartphone app integration, disc brake setup at both ends with single-channel ABS and a traction control system.

Yamaha EC 06

The Yamaha EC-06 is designed for urban and intercity commutes. It is underpinned by an exclusive platform developed by River, though Yamaha clarified that it owns the usage rights, and River won’t be using this architecture for its own models.

It uses a 4.5 kW motor (6.7 kW peak) and a 4 kWh fixed battery, providing a range of up to 160 km. The EC-06 supports three riding modes, a reverse gear, and charges fully in around 9 hours via a home socket. It has a top speed of 90 kmph.

The scooter features front and rear disc brakes, LED headlamps, a 24.5-litre under-seat storage, and an LCD instrument cluster, built-in telematics with SIM connectivity for real-time updates — making it one of the most connected EVs in its class.
