With the introduction of a more affordable AT-equipped variant, the Polo has become more affordable than the automatic variants of most of its competitors like the Toyota Glanza (Rs 8.54-9.30 lakh), Honda Jazz (Rs 8.64-9.72 lakh), and Hyundai i20 (Rs 8.69-11.40 lakh). However, it is still pricier than the Maruti Baleno automatic (Rs 7.91-9.30 lakh).

Commenting on the launch of the new automatic variant, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said-

We are extremely excited to announce the introduction of a new trim-line in the Polo family, Comfortline TSI AT for our discerning customers in India. Polo continues to be a strong contender in the segment, and through this announcement, our endeavor is to continuously engage with customers, by offering striking enhancements on our flagship model and provide safe and meticulously German-engineered products coupled with a fun-to-drive experience.

Like all the other automatic variants of Polo, the Comfortline AT trim also gets a 6-speed torque converter transmission, paired to the same 1.0-liter turbocharged TSI petrol engine that belts out 110PS and 175Nm. Besides, the Volkswagen Polo also comes with a 1.0-liter naturally-aspirated MPI petrol engine that produces a maximum output of 75PS and 95Nm. Here are their claimed fuel-efficiency figures: –

Volkswagen Polo Claimed Mileage
1.0-litre MPI (manual) 17.57kmpl
1.0-litre TSI (manual) 18.24kmpl
1.0-litre TSI (automatic) 16.47kmpl

Coming back to the Comfortline TSI AT, the brand has also equipped the variant with some additional features such as automatic climate control and an exclusive 7.0-inch touchscreen Blaupunkt audio system. Besides, it also retains all the other features of its manual counterpart such as 15-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, ambient lighting with theatre dimming effect, electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators, dual-front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), etc.

In the other news, Volkswagen India is gearing up to launch three SUVs and one new sedan by the end of 2021. These include an all-new Taigun compact SUV, 5-seater Tiguan facelift, 7-seater Tiguan Allspace facelift, and a successor model of the Vento
