Vingroup’s Green SM EV Taxi Service Set For India Debut On June 5

Green SM, a Vietnamese ride-hailing company backed by VinGroup, is all set to commence its services in India on June 5, 2026. Currently, Ola, Uber and Rapido are among the most popular ride-hailing services in the country.

Here’s everything you need to know about it: –

  • Green SM currently offers its ride-hailing services in countries such as Malaysia, Philippines, and Vietnam via a dedicated app for ride bookings.
  • Unlike other ride-hailing companies like Ola and Uber, which use cars from multiple brands, the Green SM only utilises Vinfast cars for its services. In India, they will first start using the Limo Green, which is essentially a fleet version of the VF MPV 7.
  • Green SM is reported to start its taxi service first in the Delhi-NCR region before expanding to other Indian cities.

Green SM Limo Green

  • Confirmed by the earlier spy shots, all Limo Green cabs will feature a distinct green exterior paint, with different badges and brand logos than the VF MPV 7.
  • The MPV will be equipped with the same 60.13 kWh battery pack as the VF MPV 7, but with a separate ARAI certification for fleet use. For reference, the Vinfast VF MPV 7 has an ARAI-rated range of 517km, and its front-mounted motor produces 204hp of max power and 280Nm of peak torque.
Green SM Limo Green interior
  • Inside, the Limo Green will feature an all-black cabin against the brown-and-black theme of the VF MPV 7.
  • It will be offered in a 7-seater configuration (2+3+2).
  • Expect it to come equipped with amenities like fabric seats, floating touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car features, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push-button start, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear wiper & defogger, six airbags, traction control, hill assist, and electronic parking brakes with auto-hold.

Author’s Take

The entry of Green SM to India’s ride-hailing space is expected to intensify competition among existing players. And being an EV-based service, it could also bring more competitive pricing. Overall, it will be interesting to see how the Vietnamese brand adapts to the Indian market and whether it can carve out a meaningful share in the segment.
