Upcoming Ola Electric Scooter Received Over 1 Lakh Bookings Within 24 Hours

Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola Electric, has announced that the company has received a record-breaking 1 lakh+ bookings for its upcoming debut e-scooter within the first 24 hours of opening pre-launch reservations. With this, it has become the most pre-booked scooter in the world.

Ola Electric opened bookings for its upcoming electric scooter on July 15. Interested customers can pre-book the Ola Scooter online for Rs 499. It is expected to be launched in the coming weeks. However, the brand is yet to announce the official launch date. We believe that Ola will not struggle much to meet the high demand as its factory (called Futurefactory) will be the world's largest scooter manufacturing facility upon completion. The first phase of the Ola Futurefactory is almost ready, which has an annual capacity of 2 million units. By next year, it will be ready to operate at the full capacity of one crore vehicles annually.

Also, it is worth noting that if Ola manages to turn at least half of the total bookings into actual sales, it will still be much higher than the total electric two-wheeler sales in the first half of 2021 (29,288 units).

The upcoming Ola electric scooter is claimed to offer class-leading acceleration, high-range, largest boot space in class, multiple color options, and several segment-first features. It is likely to utilize a 6 kW electric motor, powered by a non-removable battery pack with a full range of around 150km on a full charge. Ola also claims that it can be fast-charged from 0-50% in just 18 minutes, which will be enough for a 75km ride.

The Ola e-scooter will be priced aggressively to make it widely accessible. It is likely to be available in two variants. Once launched, it will go up against the TVS iQube, Baja Chetak, Okinawa iPraise+Ather 450X, and the upcoming Simple Energy One.
