Triumph’s Most Affordable Bike Launched In India – Speed 400 Roadster

  • The highly awaited Triumph Speed 400 has finally been launched in India at a stunning price tag of Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the Triumph’s most affordable bike in India.
  • Hold on tight because there’s an even more exhilarating offer awaiting the fortunate first 10,000 customers, as they get the bike at an exclusive price of Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
  • Triumph has stated that the Scrambler 400X will be launched in October this year.
  • Bookings for both motorcycles have been commenced at a token amount of Rs 2,000.
  • Deliveries of the bike are scheduled to kickstart later this month.

What powers the Triumph Speed 400?

  • At the heart of the Speed 400 is a new 398cc TR series, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that makes 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
  • Triumph states that about 30Nm of torque is made available from as low as 3,000rpm.
  • It is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 28.3 kmpl.
  • This engine has a service interval of 16,000 kilometres.

Underpinnings

  • Built on the Hybrid spine tubular steel frame, the Triumph Speed 400 gets a 43mm big-piston USD fork up front (140mm travel) and a monoshock at the rear (130mm travel).
  • The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels..
  • For anchoring duties, this new British roadster is equipped with a 300mm disc up front and a 230mm disc rear at the back, aided by a dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS).
  • The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres, a saddle height of 790mm, and a kerb weight of 176kg, 6kg more than its international version.

The Triumph Speed 400 comes with an impressive set of features. It gets an all-LED lighting system, ride-by-wire technology, a C-type USB port, dual-channel ABS, switchable traction control, an assist clutch, an immobiliser, and a semi-digital instrument with a small LCD screen. However, it does not include Bluetooth connectivity and navigation assist.

In the Indian market, the Speed 400 will lock horns with the Honda CB300R, BMW G 310 R, KTM 390 Duke, and the Zontes GK350.
